Week 1(y1) scores Oregon-state-at-tcu-5791

STUNNED!!! TCU Lose 27-17

Week 1(y1) scores 95813813_display_image

It only took 1 week, but the TCU Horned Frogs are already searching for answers after going down 27-17 at home to #19 Oregon State. The offense, which was supposed to be the strong unit of the team, was never able to get in sync as the Oregon State defense continually got in passing lanes and left Dalton scratching his head throughout the game. The game started with O-State going 3 and out, and everything seemed to be going TCU's way on their first possession, until Dalton was intercepted leading to a Kahut 37 yard FG to give O-State the 3-0 lead after 1.

The 2nd quarter started out the same way, with Dalton getting intercepted yet again, and once again the TCU defense held strong and forced a FG, this time from 23 yards out to give O-State the 6-0 lead. The rest of the quarter would be dominated by TCU as Dalton found Hicks on a slant pattern and he took it to the house for a 63 yard catch and run. TCU were able to add on a 45 yard FG at the end of the half to take the 10-6 lead.

The 3rd quarter was all about Oregon State. First they were able to force TCU into punting the ball. Then they were able to build their first solid drive of the day, culminating with a 13 yard run by Rodgers. Then, after Dalton's 3rd interception on the day, Oregon State were finally able to take advantage of their great field position, as Rodgers punched it in from 3 yards out to give Oregon State a 20-10 lead after 3 quarters.

The game was essentially over after Dalton's 4th interception on the day was returned 80 yards by Tuimaunei to give Oregon State a 27-10 lead with 4:06 left in the game. TCU were able to quickly move down the field on their next possession, ending with Hicks' second TD on the day, this time on a 20 yard pass from Dalton. With 2:45 left on the clock and with 3 timeouts, the Frogs decided against the onside kick, hoping they would be able to stop Oregon State and force a 3 and out, however, on 3rd down and 7, and with the whole stadium knowing that Oregon State were running the ball, Rodgers was still able to break a tackle and gain the first down, effectively ending this game as a competition. TCU will have to go back to the drawing board and forget about this game quickly if they are to salvage anything from this season. Next week's game at Clemson already seems to be a make or break game for these Frogs, as they look to make up for their opening week loss.

Slow Start
Florida State offensive struggles in victory

Week 1(y1) scores FSU1

The Florida State Seminoles begin the 2010 campaign with a victory over the Air Force Falcons in Denver, Colorado. The game started off great with the Noles, as Senior Quarterback Christian Ponder drove FSU straight down the field. On a third and goal, young halfback Jermaine Thomas scored from 5 yards out to put the Seminoles up 7-0. The score would stay this way simply because of the great defensive effort by the Air Force Falcons. They ended up forcing a huge interception in the redzone. This would help them put together a quick scoring drive in the second quarter. Stud Falcon halfback Asher Clark scored on a nifty run of 65 yards.

The game was a battle at this point, but little did the Falcon fans know that this would be the only score for their team. The halftime score was a 7-7 tie. After a little bit of a regroup, the Noles came out hungry to put the ball in the endzone. With 4:41 left in the third quarter, FSU would score on a pass from Ponder to Haulstead. Haulstead made two defenders miss on the deep out, and he was off to the races. The 80 yard touchdown was a career long pass for Ponder, and the Seminoles went up 14-7. They would never look back.

After a short drive by the Falcons, the Noles got the ball back and drove right down the field. Before the end of the third, Jermaine Thomas of FSU scored his second touchdown on the afternoon. The first drive of the fourth quarter for the FSU Seminoles resulted in a punt. The punt was fielded cleanly, but the returner ended up fumbling the ball after fighting for a few extra yards. The Noles Special Teams unit picked it up and scampered to the 5 yard line, only to be tripped up by a blade of grass. The Noles would tack on a FG to make the score 24-7.

Player of the game was Asher Clark with his 143 yards on the ground. Great game Frisk, as always it was a pleasure!! You MWC guys better watch out!!

#21 FSU RALLIES BEHIND PONDER TO TAKE DOWN THE FORCE

Week 1(y1) scores 661A0001_12_GR_JPEG_SCREENSHOT_hjB
Junior RB Asher Clark scampers from the FSU defense for a 65 yards run.

AIR FORCE : 7
FLORIDA STATE: 24

The Air Force Falcons (0-1,0-0) put up a fight against the Florida State Seminoles and came up short. Frisk's gameplan was to control the tempo of the game on offense, to keep the defense off of the field. It worked quite well with the score 7-7 at half, he Falcons gaining consistent yards on the FSU defense and forcing 2 ponder interceptions.

After a moral boosting halftime speech, the Falcons came out and dropped the ball, literally. WR Justin Folger fumble the kickoff and FSU was able to recover which led to an advantage. Momentum swung FSU's way and Coach Bobby J went in for the killshot. Christian Ponder connected with Willie Haulstead for a 80 yard TD and a big lead. From here on after FSU's offense was impossible to stop and the Falcons found themselves falling quickly behind and eventually losing 24-7. It was a great game as usual Bob!

The Falcons offense was led by Asher Clark who got most of the carries including an impressive 65 yard TD which you can view on the dynasty wire. Coach Frisk stated he will have to get his other backs more involved to add more deception to the Air Force offense.

The Air Force defense was led by the MLB core Lawal and Hennessey who accounted for 50% of all tackles. The Falcons plan to keep things under wraps next week.

The Air Force Falcons (0-1,0-0) will meet up with BYU for their first MWC conference game.

Virginia Tech dethrones the Mid-Major that could. A great battle to the end. Kellen Moore would throw an interception to cut Boise's chances of any National Championship hope. Ryan Williams ran wild on the day going for 228 yards on 21 carries. Tyrod wasn't excellent but he got the job done and completed throws when we really needed it. Virginia Tech hopes to carry on this running attack next week and throughout the season. Coach controllerabuser has finally found his style in this team.
